For the longest time, piano was the only musical instrument I could play. It was rocky at first, due to the poor choice of piano mentor we had. He made us practice for ridiculous amounts of hours without any knowledge of the basics, trying to make us guess the whole music theory, which is, in my opinion, not really an effective way of teaching. Because of that, my mom, who was starting out on piano with me at the time, lost her interest, assuming it was too difficult. It was only thanks to my other two mentors that I realized that is not the case at all. Contrary to my second mentor, my current one has a distinctive personality that pushed me to try other musical genres (especially on the piano). Thanks to her, I started taking an interest in the bass (guitar…?) and I recently made the decision to actually take it up. Upon receiving the birthday present, my new seafoam colored bass, I was extremely excited and started practicing immediately. I hope this new endeavour succeed and my connection to music be closer than ever.
